Department of Shipping Management

About the Department

    Shipping Management Department was formed in 2002 together with the establishment of Myanmar Maritime University. Being the sole university in Maritime industry of Myanmar, it is one of the main objectives of our department to contribute to development of human resources and capacity building in international transport, shipping and logistics sectors that support the State’s development and enhanced productivity.
    Since 2006-2007 Academic Year, the department has been running the programme on Post Graduate Diploma in Shipping Management on part time basis.The department continues our efforts to enhancing the capacity building for the human resources in maritime and transport sector. In 2016-2017 Academic Year, Post Graduates Diploma in Transport and Logistics Management was opened to fulfill human resources requirement in the transport and logistics industry of Myanmar.
    To date, about 420 post-graduates in shipping management and 743 post-graduates in Transport and Logistics Management have been produced. The industry is benefiting from our graduates in terms of their knowledge acquired, managerial skills and expertise that they could effectively and properly apply in their work place.
